JP MARKS 40 YEARS OF SERVICE

Hinchinbrook MP, Andrew Cripps, recently awarded Mrs Antonia Canu, of Mourilyan, a certificate in recognition of 40 years of voluntary service to Queensland as a Justice of the Peace (JP).
Mr Cripps presented Mrs Canu with her certificate after a long career working as a legal secretary and an interpreter in the social security sector, which was the primary reason she became a JP.
“I’d like to thank Mrs Canu for her long period of service to the Queensland public as a JP, which is a voluntary position that can require individuals to take on a lot of responsibility” said Mr Cripps.
“I was pleased to be able to present a certificate to Mrs Canu in person, to ensure that she understood her local community appreciates the voluntary service that she has provided” he said.
Mr Cripps said anyone interested in becoming a JP, or a Commissioner for Declarations, should contact the Department of Justice on 1300 301 147, or email jp@justice.qld.gov.au.
