Labor and Greens team up to slam Adani

- Labor votes down motion condemning party branch for smearing Adani
- Annastacia Palaszczuk tells Adani one thing, but does another in Parliament
- Labor-Green alliance remains in full force in Queensland
The Palaszczuk Government has failed to defend the vital jobs and investment set to be created by Adani after voting to support an inner-city Labor branch which called the company “disgusting”.
Shadow Mines Minister Andrew Cripps introduced a motion to the Queensland Parliament to condemn the Mount Coot-tha branch of the Labor Party for calling Adani “disgusting” – which Labor opposed.
“By voting down the LNP’s motion, the Palaszczuk Government failed to stand up for the thousands of jobs and invest billions of dollars in Queensland,” Mr Cripps said.
“Did the Premier tell Gautam Adani his company was “disgusting” when she met with him last week in India?
“By failing to vote with the LNP on our motion in Parliament, they were in effect voting in agreement with the comments which slammed a company looking to invest in Queensland.
“How can Adani have confidence to invest and create jobs to Queensland when the Palaszczuk Labor Government won’t stand up and defend it against rogue elements inside their party.”
Mr Cripps said the current Member for Mount Coot-tha Steven Miles needed to assure the Parliament that his local branch did not represent his views or those of the Palaszczuk Government.
“The Labor-Green alliance remains in full force in Queensland, as the two parties continue to work hand in glove to support an extreme, ideologically driven agenda,” Mr Cripps said.
“After Labor brought back compulsory preferential voting in Queensland, the Labor-Greens preference deal is more important than ever.
“By failing to stand up to the extreme Labor Left, the Palaszczuk Government has once again demonstrated that it is captured by green activist groups.”
