LNP TO DELIVER SVENSSON ROAD INTERSECTION AT MOUNT LOW

An LNP Government will contribute $1 million to help deliver the $5 million Bruce Highway – Svensson Road Intersection at Mount Low, on Townsville’s growing Northern Beaches.
Hinchinbrook MP, Andrew Cripps, said he believed the Svensson Road intersection was a key piece of road infrastructure that would improve the flow of traffic on Townsville’s Northern Beaches.
Mr Cripps said the LNP has a focus on building a better Queensland by building the roads, bridges and dams Queenslanders need and that one of those roads is Svennson Road at Mount Low.
“An LNP Government will invest $1 million to help deliver the $5 million Bruce Highway – Svensson Road Intersection, as part of the LNP’s 10-year Bruce Highway Action Plan” said Mr Cripps.
“The Sanctum residential development at Mount Low is an example of strong growth on Townsville’s Northern Beaches and our road network needs to keep up with that growth” he said.
“This is why I have identified the need to deliver the Bruce Highway – Svensson Road Intersection and the LNP is committing $1 million to help deliver the $5 million project at Mount Low”.
“By delivering this project, Mount Low residents would have better access to the Bruce Highway, the Townsville Ring Road and Veales Road, which would be opposite this new intersection”.
Mr Cripps said he believed the project would also reduce traffic congestion on Mount Low Parkway and take pressure off the busy Mount Low Parkway – Bruce Highway intersection at Mount Low.
“The LNP will work with the Federal Government to deliver this project, so that local communities in North Queensland secure the infrastructure they need to protect our lifestyle”.
“I have listened carefully to local residents in the area about this missing piece of the local road network puzzle on Townsville’s Northern Beaches and I am keen to see it delivered”.
“Whether Mount Low residents are getting on the Bruce Highway, heading to Veales Road, or are looking to access the Townsville Ring Road, this new intersection would help them do that”.
Mr Cripps while Svennson Road was a local road controlled by the Townsville City Council, the intersection with the Bruce Highway is the responsibility of the Federal and State Governments.
